Second Photo-Therapy Day 2019 RPS Bristol: acknowledgements

Second Photo-Therapy Day 2019
Royal Photographic Society – Bristol

Symposium: 22 May, Wednesday 10.00 am – 07.00 pm
Workshop: 23 May, Thursday 10.00 am – 07.00 pm

On 22 May 2019 The Royal Photographic Society hosted the Second Photo-Therapy Day, which was organised with "GRIFO" Photo-Therapy Research Group (Italy).

The First Photo-Therapy Day had taken place at The Royal Society in London on the same day, 22 May, the previous year, in 2018.

The Second Photo-Therapy Day was celebrated at RPS new venue in Bristol with a Symposium on 22 May and a Workshop on Integrated Expressive Arts Therapies on the day after.

The Symposium "From Hugh Welch Diamond to PhotographicActs" was closed with the "Diamond" Photo-Therapy Award 2019 ceremony.
The "Diamond" Photo-Therapy Award "DPTA" is a recognition to pioneers and researchers who have given a far-reaching contribution to the development of the discipline.
The recipients so far are:
The sculpture which represents the prize was created and crafted by the Italian artist Valentino Giampaoli.

The Symposium was mediated by Michael Pritchard, RPS Director and Ayres Marques Pinto, "GRIFO" Photo-Therapy Research Group Coordinator.
The lectures were given by the awardees, and by the special guest, JudeWacks.

The whole event was managed and documented by Thaís Fusco and Álvaro Magalhães.

Gigliola Capodaglio and Giuliano Mosca curated the edition of the programme and all printed material.

The event was preceded by a number of meetings with Researchers and Professors of Bristol University and eminent Photographers of the territory.

The audience was diverse and highly qualified. Most of the attendees took part in the debates during the symposium and in the course of the brakes for tea/coffee, lunch and cocktail.
Heather Wheeler, Riccardo Musacchi, Emilie Danchin, Mario Pettinelli, Trupti Patel, Sophie Sherwood, Justin Quinnell, Sisi Burn, Bridget Betts, Peter Bjørn Franceschi, Dola Twomey, Emilie Sandy, Eleonora Ponzio, Eddy Bucci, Elisabetta Romani, Maria Susy Rogers, Maria Munn, Ruth Davey, Jeanne of Brittany and Mark I (the First) were just some of the people who took part in the event.
It would be most valuable if we continued to exchange our views and experiences on Photo-Therapy, as a group, even after the conclusion of the second Photo-Therapy Day.
It would give us more instruments to prepare next year celebration.

Administrators of Groups and Pages on Facebook
Photo-Therapy Day has received a very generous attention by the administrators of groups and pages on Facebook. They have shared and often commented the programme of the event. Many attendees got their first informations from the groups and even more people could follow the updates on line at a distance.
We hope to continue this collaboration in order to discuss the issues that emerged during the Photo-Therapy Day symposium and workshop.
The third Photo-Therapy Day programme will be shaped also by the online confabulation in blogs, groups and pages in internet.

Celebrating Photo-Therapy Day as an event was an idea of Ayres Marques Pinto, Rosa Maria Pinto, Ottoni Fontana, Thais Fusco and Gilfredo Pinheiro.
